This camera was launched as a high quality compact because the user is able to manually set the aperture, zone focus and the exposure compensation, this normally is all done automatically with compact camera's and can't be adjusted. To stress the outstanding capabilities of this camera Ricoh added the phrase: "Total Creative Control" to the top of the camera. Because that's precisely what it provides.
